Three days ago we published our Day 0 post: we ran pickedby.ai through our own tool and scored 12/100. Perplexity said it had never heard of us. GPT said the same.

We promised to document every step — what we do, what moves the needle, what doesn't.

Here's Day 3.

12
pickedby.ai — April 13, 2026 Score: 12/100 · Tier: Invisible (0–35)
Perplexity: Still no recognition
GPT-4o: Still no recognition

The score hasn't moved. We expected that. Here's why — and what we're watching.

What we actually did in 3 days

Building in public means showing the real log, not the highlight reel. Here's the actual sequence:

DAY 0
Published the score publicly Score 12, both AIs unaware. Posted to Reddit (r/SideProject), Indie Hackers, X. The Day 0 post went live.
DAY 1
Published "We Asked 4 AIs to Redesign Our Product" Fed our system to Perplexity, Grok, Gemini, and ChatGPT and asked each one: what's wrong with this? They all gave the same answer. We built the fix in one day.
DAY 2
Full SEO audit — internal links, meta tags, sitemap Found 3 blog posts missing from our sitemap. Fixed meta descriptions across 10 posts (all were over 150 characters — bad for AI snippets). Added internal links between every post. Small details. But AI crawlers notice them.
DAY 3
This post Score re-check. Still 12. Documentation continues.

Why the score hasn't moved — and why that's normal

AI visibility is a lag indicator. This is one of the most important things to understand about it — and one of the reasons most creators never actually track it.

When you publish a blog post, Google takes days to crawl it. AI training pipelines take weeks to months to re-index. Community signals (Reddit threads, ProductHunt votes, Indie Hackers discussions) take time to accumulate weight. The actions we took in Day 1–2 are real — they're just not reflected in today's score yet.

Think of it like planting seeds. You don't harvest on Day 3. But if you don't plant on Day 1, you'll have nothing to harvest on Day 90.

The score measures five dimensions. Here's where each one stands right now:

Dimension Action taken Status
Web Presence
Does content about you exist?
4 new blog posts published. Sitemap expanded to 13 URLs. ⏳ Crawl lag
Source Authority
Are trusted sources covering you?
Posted on Reddit, IH. No external coverage yet. ◦ Pending
Recommendation Signals
Do "best of" lists mention you?
Submitted to a few directories. Not yet picked up. ◦ Pending
Community Validation
Do forums, reviews, threads exist?
Reddit post live. PH launch pending. ⏳ Accumulating
Competitive Context
Is your product discussed relative to others?
Not yet. Comparison content is next. ◦ Not started

What we expect to move first

Based on how AI training pipelines work, community validation moves fastest. Reddit threads, forum mentions, and Product Hunt pages get crawled and re-indexed more aggressively than personal blogs.

That's why our next action is a Product Hunt launch — not because we need the traffic, but because PH is a source that Perplexity and Claude treat as authoritative. A live PH listing with any votes is a harder signal than ten blog posts.

Web presence signals should start moving in 2–4 weeks as our new content gets indexed. We'll re-check the score then.

The thing most creators miss

Here's what this experiment has already proven, even with a score still at 12:

Most creators don't know their Day 0. They don't have a baseline. They write content, they post on social, they launch things — and they have no idea whether any of it is changing how AI perceives them.

You can't improve what you don't measure. And you can't measure what you never started tracking.

The value of the tool isn't the score. It's the baseline. Knowing your 12 is the first move. Everything else is just playing the game without knowing the score.

We didn't build pickedby.ai to give creators a number to brag about. We built it so they could answer a question that actually matters: does AI know I exist?

If the answer is no — now you know. That's Day 0. And Day 0 is where it starts.

What's next

We'll re-run the score in 2 weeks and publish the results here — whatever they are. If we've moved from 12 to 15, we'll explain exactly what caused it. If we're still at 12, we'll explain why.

The whole point is to show the real thing, not the polished version.

If you want to follow along, check your own score first. That's your Day 0. Bookmark it. Come back in two weeks.
